Description

The Only Modulator Worth Your Time!

What is ToneKnob TriMod?

The ToneKnob series of simple studio effects wouldn’t be complete without a modulation effect—and not just any modulation effect. As the name suggests, TriMod combines and seamlessly blends three essential modulation effects into one sophisticated tool.

Inside, you’ll find Flanger, Chorus, and Phaser—but that’s not how we thought about TriMod! This is a precisely tuned algorithm designed to smoothly transition between the iconic sounds you know from the greatest guitar legends. However, TriMod isn’t just for guitarists. Try it on synths, vocals, or even bass guitar!

With ToneKnob TriMod, you can easily dial in the sounds that defined not just guitar history but also the tones of the ’70s, iconic ’80s, grungy ’90s, and beyond. Whether you’re looking for the dark chorus of Metallica’s “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)”, Van Halen’s dramatic flanger in “Ain’t Talkin’ ’Bout Love”, or the psychedelic phaser from Pink Floyd’s legendary albums, all these sounds are here—just one knob turn away.

How to dial in TriMod

Up to 20% knob level
If you want a subtle modulation with gentle movement, perfect for adding a touch of depth and space to your signal, this is the range where you want to operate.

  • 20-40% Knob level
As you turn the knob, the speed and depth of modulation increase, resulting in a fuller sound. We took inspiration from the legendary modulation effects by EHX, transporting you straight to the grunge sound of the ’90s and compelling you to play some of Cobain’s riffs.
  • 40-60% Knob level
The Flanger character gradually fades and gives way to a vintage chorus. We designed this range to be rich and lush, filling the space with its vintage shimmer. Here you’ll find all the classic chorus tones, whether it’s Andy Summers, Eddie Van Halen, Tame Impala, or Mike Stern
  • 60% Knob level
Around here, you will enter a full vintage chorus territory – sparkling in the highs and adding depth to chords and single notes alike.
  • 60-70% Knob level
The chorus intensifies and transitions into a multi-layered Quad Chorus—rich texture and wide stereo spread.
  • 70-80% Knob level
Quad Chorus at its peak, ideal for epic sections like “Is This Love” by Whitesnake or the unmistakable Allan Holdsworth tone—what we see as the pinnacle of modulation.
  • 80-90% Knob level
The chorus fades as the phaser takes over. At 90%, it’s a full phaser with traces of chorus—yes, we couldn’t resist, and this instantly reminded us of that psychedelic sound from “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” by Pink Floyd.
  • 100% Knob level
A wild vintage chorus combined with Quad Chorus and Phaser, creating an intensely rich and thick modulation. This one’s for the bold, giving you a “crazy knob” tone reminiscent of Scofield’s experimental runs.
  • 100% Wet Option
The 100% Wet function in plugins means that only the affected sound (modulated signal) goes to the plugin output, while the original, "dry", i.e., your instrument/signal, is completely removed. The 100% Wet function is key in parallel signal processing, where the affected (wet) sound is separated from the original (dry) signal on a separate aux channel. This allows for easy mixing of the clean and affected signals, even for multiple tracks simultaneously.
